Three things every outdoor enthusiast should have and do before heading out: 

  1. Tell a responsible friend or family member where you are going and what time you are expected to be back. 
  2. Bring water and stay hydrated! 
  3. Pre-plan your trip in to the mountains or canyons; know where you are going, have a map, charged cell phone and flashlight.
